Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (CND) is job oriented three year degree course in honours. University Grants Commission, New Delhi approved the introduction of this course in 1995. The infrastructure of the course has been built upon the UGC Guidelines. The syllabus is designed to provide ample knowledge and training skill to enable the students to emerge as competent dietician and skilled professionals. Experts are invited to deliver lectures to our students. The job training takes place at Medical Colleges and hospitals like RIMS : Ranchi, Pataliputra Medical College : Dhanbad , Magadh Hospital : Patna, PMCH : Patna, Apollo Hospital : Irba Ranchi, Milk Dairy Industries like Sudha Dairy and Hotel Management Institutes like NSMS Durgapur, Premier Institute of Hotel Management : Puri, Hotel Chanakya : Patna, Hotel Maurya : Patna, Culinary Institute of India & CITMS: Durgapur & NSHM : Durgapur.

Since then the department is proud of imparting quality education in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics. Fully equipped laboratories and classroom train students as a dietician for facing day to day nutrition and health challenges.CND department has brilliant placement records as skilled dietician in various renowned Hospitals, Nursing homes, Government organisation, Food industry like Britannia, Nestle etc, VLCC and Health & Fitness centres all over India.

  • Understand the relationship between nutrition and human well being
  • Develop ability to plan balanced diet for various stages of life cycle, activity groups and for various socio economic levels.
  • Understand the modifications in nutrient and dietary requirements for various diseases.
  • Understand importance of nutrition in community and in national progress.
  • Equip with competencies to emerge as professional dieticians.

The aims and objectives of introducing vocational studies is a progressive and positive approach towards imparting job oriented education to the girl student. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics has tremendous job opportunities. As a dietitian employment opportunities are available in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Hotels, Residential Schools, Railways and Airlines Catering Service, Food Industry, Health and Fitness Centres, WHO and various government organisations or as a freelance consultant Dietitian.

Faculty members of the Department make concerted effort to link students with potential employers at all stages of education programmes and through visit to various originations, guest lectures by renowned resource persons, internship and placement at several institution . Placement cell of the college has been functioning actively for the placement of the students. Campus selection is arranged by the Department.

Eligibility for Admission:

Eligibility for admission in C.N.D. (B.Sc. Hons.) is + 2 Science with PCB or PCM and minimum 45 % marks

Total Seats:

Total number of seats is 45 +5 (N.R.I.) 45 for general candidates, subject to reservation of seats as per guideline of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, and 5 for NRI sponsored candidates on requisite payment in U$dollar.

Reservation of seats for SC/ST will be followed as per the rules and regulations of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag.

Course Fee:

The total Fee is Rs. 15000/ (Fifteen Thousand) only per semester for General students and US $ 1000 per semester for NRI / NRI sponsored candidates.

  • Fee must be paid in full at the time of admission.
  • 75% attendance is necessary for filling of examination from according to University rules.
  • Disciplinary action will be taken against those students who break college rules.

Syllabus Of CND [UG] : Course Outline:

The syllabus is based on semester system. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, having a total of six semesters. The course consists of 14 papers of core course-CC (Hons Papers), Four papers of DSE- Discipline Specific Elective, Two papers of AECC Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course and two papers of SEC- Skill Enhancement Course.
